Rediscover Hong Kong (16.01.08 - 21.01.08)

14.01.08:

It's amazing to see how my parents function
and make decisions!!
Their "just do it" attitude leaves me buffered at times....

This BONUS Hong Kong trip was actually
a very last minute decision by my parents.
and the thing about it is......

Sophia has got NO passport......
Yes!! I repeat in BOLD

NO PASSPORT!!

It was like amazing race....
My parents were racing against time....
to get mei mei's passport done on time!
After Qing, get Q number, waiting,
seeing the officer for interview, Qing, and waiting....
FINALLY.....
They are going to put Sophia mei mei's passport application
on the EXPRESS LANE....
God bless Singapore and it's system!!
at least don't need to "Just Follow Law"

Passport will be ready on 16.01.08 at 9am
(which ALSO happens to be our flight departure date...)

16.01.08:

Mummy roped in Alice jie jie to help us for the day....
It was a MAD RUSH...
Mummy was functioning faster than bullet trains in Japan!

1st stop, to SIR building to collect mei mei's passport.
Alright, the same old predictable systematic Singapore system....
Qing, Get Q number, WAIT....

This was where mummy got HIT by reality....
she thought to herself
"SHIT! It's not as simple as just collect passport then run.....
STILL got 40 over numbers then my turn....
Jia lat!! Cannot make it for flight!!
Damn!"

Mummy approach the officer
to tell her that our flight is due for checking in an hour time....
and to WAIT and WAIT and WAIT
for 40 numbers to pass
is NOT AN OPTION!!

Only to be reply with a straight face,
you got to go Q, take Q number and see officer for interview,
then officer can decide if we can release your passport earlier....

Duhz! Mummy did as she was told....
Officer agreed to once again
put our passport collection on express lane.....

After collecting the passport,
it was another MAD RUSH to the airport....

Thankfully, we made it to the airport in good time....
So good that we are able to enjoy burger king at the new terminal 3.

Thank you for your help Alice jie jie!!

Flight was a bliss
even though mummy had to handle both me and mei mei....

Auntie Angelina met us at HongKong airport.....
We stayed with Auntie Angelina
until papa arrived in HongKong, on 19.01.08
Since Auntie Angelina stays in ShenZhen; Sha Tao Kok,
we have to take a long long car ride to her place.

And to those people who thought that
ShenZhen is a cowboy town....
You are COMPLETELY WRONG!!
It is even safer than JB!!
Police petrol booths were seen along the streets.....
making us feel really safe!

After dumping our stuffs at Auntie Angelina's place,
we went out to hunt for food.
This french restaurant  is so worth our every cent!!
At 64rmb, which is about 11 Sin,
We had Fresh bread (with galic butter and basil olive),
Salad, Soup, Main Course and Desert!!
Not to mention,
service is EXCELLENT!!

17.01.08:

Weather is SUPER COLD today.
Stayed at home the whole day.
Had lunch at the same french restaurant...
Had dinner with Auntie Angelina and her work mates
at a chinese restaurant....
We ate like gluttons...
the bill came up to 300rmb for 5 hungry adults.
Which is only 50 Sin....
so CHEAP!!

18.01.08:

Mummy took us across the border to HongKong.
30rmb, which is 10 Sin was for the fare of the bus ride,
from ShenZhen; Sha Tou Kok to HongKong; Kowlong Tong.
We ate lunch,
shopped around at festive walk...
Then took a bus back to ShenShen; Sha Tou Kok.

19.01.08:

Auntie Angelina is OFF today....
So, she is coming along with us to meet papa at Kowloon Hotel.

We had lunch at Red Ant.
Fabulous food at reasonable price!!

Then mummy die die want to shop at Stanley Market....
So, the rest of us has no choice but to tag along!!

We took the star ferry to get across to HongKong Island
This is the 1st time I am on a FERRY!!
and boy, I was so excited!!

Then it was a LONG bus ride...
with beautiful sencery of expensive houses....
We even rode pass Ocean Park on the bus!!

Mummy had a great time shopping at stanley Market...
The rest of us were dead beat!

Apprently, mummy met up with 2 other cousin
which she has not seen for a long long time!!
It's really amazing to see how everyones' life has changed.....

Away from home.........

*mummy's rumblings*

I used to think I meant the whole world to my baby boy.....
And I thought he could not live one night away from me.....
I was totally WRONG!!

The whole jing gang came over to spring us a surprise visit....
Which include,
1) My third sister-in-law Peggy. her hubby,
and her 3 kids Joey, Rachel, and Christine
2) My second sister-in-law Linda,
this was like special guest appearance,
as she came all the way from Ipoh!!
3) Niece Alice, her hubby, and her 3 kids,
Andrew , Heng Heng, and Thomas....

Hiroshi usually have hell lotsa fun when they visit!!
And, he would also be very disappointed and upset when they leave...

so let's cut the long grandmama story short.....
It was time for them to go.....
A very comical Hiroshi quickly ran to this room
to get his shirt and pants,
came out and shouted SHIRT!! SHIRT!!
When he realised that no was helping his with his shirt,
He quickly grab his trolley school bag, ran to the gate,
and shouted SHOE!! SHOE!!
No one was helping him with his shoes either.....
We were all busy giggling at him....

I urge my third sister-in law Peggy
to bring him back to JB with them....
Her 3 daughters were over the moon upon hearing that....
Unfortunately, She did not want to run the risk
of having a toddler, with inconsolable crying at bedtime
looking for his mummy!!
So, I shut the gates and wave good bye to them....
Hiroshi turned pouted and refused to say his good byes....
The more they said good bye to him....
The more tears I see swelling up in his eyes!!

Then my second-in-law Linda came back for him.....
You could see the instant change in his mood and reactions....
He changed into his shirt and pant with no complains...
I packed his Elmo trolley bag,
with milk powder, bottles, water bottle,
diapers, clothes and his security balnkie....
He pulled his trolley bag and shouted SHOE!! SHOE!!
So we helped him with his shoes and OFF he goes....
Saying good byes to ME
and throwing KISSES to ME!!

So I thought to myself, maybe he will fuss
when he notice that I am not there to put him in bed.

The worried mum constant sms
to Alice to find out how his little baby was coping?!?
Only to be replied,
"EVERYTHING IS FINE, HE IS NOT CRYING AT ALL....
GONE TO BED!!"

So..... My little baby boy is not such a "baby" after all huh?!?

Oh well.... Maybe kids can really accomplish
much much more than we expect of them,

so maybe as parents we should put the stigma of,
"nah, he can't do it!"
"He's too young for it"
behind us.
and start BELIEVING and TRUSTING our kids abilities....

Thus, giving them INDEPENDENCE.....

Ang Mo Christmas Dinner @ Sha Villa

*mummy's rumbling*
I couldn't remember when was the last time
I had formal ANG MO sit down dinner.
It is either the the "disease" call FORGETFULNESS
I got from 2 pregnancies,
OR it has really been a LONG LONG TIME!!

Sitting down in the restaurant at Sha Villa,
Only 2 thoughts came to my mind....
1. How beautiful!! This was the place
Kitson and myself were pronounced husband and wife!!
Many great memories flooded in.....
2. Wah!! So many forks, spoons, and knife.....
What is for what liao arr?!?!? *panic*

Nevertheless, dinner went on "romantically"
with two kids beaming BRIGHTLY as
*ahem*
Candle Lights?!? or maybe Light Bulbs.

Happy 6th Months old Sophia mei mei.....

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Happy 6th months Sophia mei mei....
This day marks a very important day in mummy's life.
she has successfully breastfed mei mei for 6 months.....

*Mummy's Rambling*
Breast milk used to nourish babies all around the world for many centuries,
BUT, with the introduction of formula milk in more developed countries,
we were constantly challenged on our beliefs that Breast is BEST.
With formula milk companies competing with one another
to get as close as breast milk,
adding SA, AA, ARA, DHA, Immunofortis, Choline.....
and the list goes on.....
and on...
and on...
Unfortunately, NONE of them could produce BREAST MILK!!
NOT even anywhere close to it!!

so, what's the biggy about BREAST MILK!!
You might want to read and decide for yourselves:
(click on the following link)

so..... Now that I have convinced you that BREAST is BEST....

These are some very good webbies and forums I frequent:
LLL(La Leche League): This is an amazing forum!!
All these people talk about everyday is practically just BREAST FEEDING!!
SingaporeMotherhood: Another forum....
Mainly A-Z about motherhood...
Breast Feeding buddies that has supported me mentally!!
KellyMom: Great information about Breast Feeding.
Dr Jack Newman: This has to be the BEST pediatrician....
He advocates Breast Feeding!!
And, his videos are so comprehensive!!
Die, die MUST WATCH!!

Journey on Breast Feeding:
1. Eat lotsa papaya when you are pregnant.
(weather it is a scam or not..... I never did find out....
BUT, I had abandance of breast milk even through pregnancy....
so, no harm trying right!!
Anyway, fruits is good for pregant women who always run the risk of constipation
*smile*)
2. Green Papaya Threadfin Soup
soup with a comnination of Green Papaya, Threadfin fish, dried octopus,
ginger, sesame oil, and peanuts.
I have this throughout pregnancy and coinfinement....
Instant milk booster!!
3. Sashimi
oh well, a reason to indulge!!
Great for milk supply and plenty of DHA!!
4. 1st 6 weeks: TOTAL LATCH ON
NO bottles, NO pacifier!!
5. DEMAND=SUPPLY
Latch baby whenever neccssary.
6. Good Eletrical BREAST PUMP
If you are returning to work, a eletrical breast pump might be ideal....
We don't want to be slaves to breast pumps that take forver to pump or assemble!!
Medela Pump in Style is a good investment!

Tiramisu

**Mummy's rambling....**
I'm not really a big fan of cakes and chocolates,
But tiramisu is definitely one of the exceptions....
In fact I have only tried it once in Rome, Italy
The birthplace of tiramisu
and I fell in love with it instantly.....
The creamy rich texture infused with alcohol......
Aww.... you'll love it!!

It will definitely PICK YOU UP (that's the meaning of tiramisu!!),
even when you're feeling the blues.....

So Donny and myself set out to make ourself a Tiramisu!!
And you know what?!?!
It's delicious!!
(which I only dared to proclaim after test tasting by several master tester!!!)

Happy Birthday Hiroshi!!

One day, Hirsoshi came back from school,
he was clapping his hands and singing happy birthday to you....
(and of course 1/2 the time he couldn't get the words right!!
it was more like ha... hmmmmmmmm.... TO YOU!! ha... hmmmmmmm TO YOU!!
but, neverthless, I did understand him...)
So I felt that he either enjoyed his classmate's birthday parties...
OR he understands the importance of the day....

and therefore, we decided to celebrate his 2nd birthday in school....

Many people told me that they are just kids,
they wouldn't be able to understand the importance of the day!!
So Chin Chey will do lah!!
I personally felt that it is not true after all....
My best birthday had to be when i was about 2 or 3 year old....
Many aunties and uncles flock in with huge presents....
and the party food was GREAT!!
I also clearly remembered the terrible tasting BLACK FOREST CAKE
my mum got me for my 5th birthday....
(up to date, I still DETEST the taste of it!!)
And the beautiful 2 tier cake I got on my 6th Birthday....
(and it was 2 tier BECAUSE my sister and I celebrated our birthday together!!
And mind you, her birthday is a month away from mine!!)

So I set out to plan Hiroshi's birthday...
(in fact, I started planning many months ago!!)
I wanted it to be as perfect as can be!!
(*occupational hazard* I used to be a event planner,
so everything was to be tip top, there are no room for mistakes!!)
From cakes to party packs....
I want it to be memorable!!

And now, I present to you the BIG day.....
