*ahem* mummy's sentiments.....
Found that sign familar?!?
Yeah, you get see them outside the elevator in MRT stations in Singapore.....
Tax's payers' money put to good use!!
We are upgrading our MRT stations with elevators.....
How brilliant!!
I am so proud of you Singapore!!
You have made our MRT stations handicap friendly, elderly friendly, and parents with pram and children friendly..... Good Job!!
Oh, did I also forget to comment that you've also made it friendly for,
1) Lazy Teenagers, Ah-beng, Ah-seng, Ah-Lian, Ah Hua.....
2) Lazy Able-Bodied Young Man and Women
3) Lazy Able-Bodied Ah-Pek and Ah-Soh
Well, I take public transports such as the MRT very very often.....
YES, even with Hiroshi in the BIG BIG pram....
I belive in using it as it is for the public.....
(and I AM the PUBLIC even if I BRING a BIG BIG PRAM!!
Don't be surprise to see some passengers' eyes ROLL
when see you struggling with a huge pram.....
I know of someone who is like that......
You know who you are!! OWN UP!!)
It is affordable.....
(coz I ain't RICH enough to afford driving my own car.....
well, even if I am RICH enough to own one, I dun have a drivers' licence!!)
and best of all it is convinent!!
Going downtown:
We take the train at NorthEast line from Poungol to Dhoby Ghaut Interchange....
Where we have to change trains to get to Orchard which is at the NorthSouth line.....
Now here comes the problem....
I'll push Hiroshi in his pram towards the elevator....
a group of ABLE-BODIED passengers are already waiting in front of the elevator....
(I am serious!! Able-Bodied!! NON of them are HANDICAP or DEFORMED!!)
When the elevator arrived,
all of them rushed into the elevator with the KIASU
(slang: affraid to lose out) attitude....
(Seriously, it seems like the elevator was not gonna work after this
and everyone got to get up on THIS ONE!!)
Leaving me, the pram and Hiroshi looking at them from outside the elevator....
NON of them felt that they should come out.....
NON of them felt that they should give us some space.....
NON of them felt that they should take the escalator....
They just stared at us blankly and shut the elevators door on us....
I just felt the load full of elevator passenger shouted....
"wait for the next one, loser!!"
Sigh, I patiently waited....
Sometimes I just have the urge to ask.....
"Where are you handicap or deformed?!?"
Well, problem not over yet!!!
We finally got to the NorthSouth line....
Waiting for the train to bring us to Orchard....
"Please stand behind the YELLOW line" the announcement echo off....
I stood with Hiroshi in the pram behind the YELLOW line...
an orderly line of passengers stood behind us....
The train came....
I waited for the passenger alight the train before boarding....
I waited and waited for all the passengers to finish alighting....
BUT, the passengers behind me has already push themselves
ahead and boarded the train!!
What's the rush?!? I truely don't understand!!
If I can wait for everyone to alight, why not the rest?!?
What's wrong with their mentallity?!?
The train ain't going anywhere in that split seconds!!
Is it our education system?!?
Shape up or Ship out attidute causing us to behave like this?!?
Thumbs up for our MRT?!? YES!! Thumbs up for our people?!? I doubt so..... I am ashame of what these people are doing!! They are tanishing our imagine of being a DEVELOPED country!! With such attitude?!? We have got a long way to go!!

Aiyo! Poor Irene & Hiro... Ya i always kena wat u all kena too. "standing behind the yellow line" waiting for passenger to alight b4 we board BUT so AssHo_ _ Jus can wait. If it's old ppl, it ok for them to cut "Q" me BUT NOT THOSE that r NOT DEFORMED or DISABLE... YES! I know how u feel. U know I ever scolded a woman who is of middle age & I was standing @ the bus exit as I was alighting the next bus stop. & when the bus stops & open the exit door, got 1 middle age woman jus SQUEEZE & push her way throught @ me & I shouted "Aunty, TU SI MI TU???" (Push wat push in hokkien) "BU KE YI TENG HUH???" Then the aunty jus look @ me & waited for her turn to alight... (hahaha) so funny u know.. I dun care ppl look @ me saying I'm fierce But I guess ppl will look even HARDER on her loh...
Cheers, Huixin
arrr... Huixin, we need more out-spoken people like you against all these idiots~~
Haizz...can't agree wz U more. Another to add...from my experience. Around 4pm at Sengkang station which is always very empty by the way. I will normally sit @ the cabin right outside the escalator. So I can alight asap wz my toddler @ hand. Everyone outside is also waiting to get in from this particular door too...conveniently off the escalator. Now this is something I don't understand, WHY ?? WHY?? are they all crowding only outside this door...when the rest are avaliable. Mind U hor...the train is very very empty...no need to rush..plenty of seats.. Not only do they rush in like there's no tomorrow....They also push thu. me & my 3yo...many times causing us to loose balance. Really don't understand...Ya ! I know...I now take the other doors And not block the way of thses hungry ghost....heehee!

Nice One!!! U really vent all ur anger towards those inconsiderate fella. Think most ppl met with the kinda treatment. Haiz~sad to see the society becoming tat bad......wonder wat has education done to those ppl??? Dun they hv moral or something?? I rmb the number of times ppl giving up seats to me during my whole 40 weeks of pregnancy was countable with my 2 hands, somemore all was given up by indian and blangadesh men. Sigh again.......
Oh... Indian & blangadesh men???? Hmmm... Sound funny ya! Maybe all the rest R BLIND LOH... This is only the posibility of the answer. That's y they cant let these seats to elderly & pregnant ladies. COS THEY CANT SEE MAH... But when they see pretty/handsome, their eye balls ROLL & DROP TO THE FLOOR.
Cheers, Huixin
U know there's 1 time, I saw an old lady coming in my direction, I stood up & let my seat to her, then out of a sudden, there's 1 HUNGRY HUMAN rush to the seat & jus sat down? Wow lao... wat is wrong wif her! Arggh!!! So angry.. Then luckily, got 1 guy then stand up & let this old lady take over his seat.
Huixin
U know so funny leh sometimes, There's twice I let my seats up to old ppl. Then hor, when they r going to alight hor, they called me & then saying that they r alighting soon & then ask me to take back my seats... Hahahaha... I found them so cute & funny.. & also touching too. Cos they called me back even though I'm standing quite a distance. (They call others passenger to call & some just tap on mine shoulder & ask me over leh.) Then I was like so paiseh.. "SHY"
But sure these old ppl r really funny too..
Huixin
good one Irene! I share the exact sentiments about those who can't spare a little thot of those who are more in need...I'm esp disgusted by those who won't give up their seats for the poor preggy ladies...and those who hogs the lifts and yet give you the dirty glare as if you are an alien to take a lift...*faint*
