Boyce & Velda's Wedding

I had a feeling that we were having a reunion dinner
for my niece;Daphne's wedding.....
Almost everyone seated in the same table as I am
was in Daphne's wedding a year ago!
And Velda was one of her bridesmaid then....

But today,
we're celebrating the union of Boyce & Velda.....

Needless to say,
our table was the most happening ones with the most fun!!!

Daphne & Myself
(see Boyce & Velda's photographs
playing on the screen behind us!!
Didn't know Kitson so "artistic" in taking pictures...
Good framing hor!!!)
Photobucket
I super duper *heart* her red dress!!!

Kitson & Myself
I think I've been putting on weight again!

Peggy's getting married in December this year!

why our table was the most happening ones...
Cause all the Glamours & Happening people are there!!!
How could you not have fun with the whole bunch of us?!?!?!

Queen of Impromptu's Dinner Party

I know that this is gonna sound a lil CRAZY....
But, I realized that we LOVE hosting parties at home,
and best of all it keeps me motivated
to keep the place cleaner than it is suppose to be!
*Big Fat Grin*

Since I had to keep up my reputation as the Queen of Impromptu,
We hosted a last minute party!
Preparation was total madness,
with Kitson and myself
waltzing around the miserably small kitchen.
But somehow,
we managed to pull through,
and got great feedback from our dinner guest.....

So here's presenting our
"With love from,
Melbourne,
All Things Fresh,
Any fresher you'll have to fly there yourself!" Party.....

Kitson marinated all these while he was at 35,000ft!
That truly explains how we could have a dinner part at 7pm
when he touches down from Melbourne at 4pm!

Honey Mustard Pork Cutlet

Red Wine Lamb Cutlet
I think this was the most expansive cut in tonight's dinner.....

Beautiful Vegetables
waiting to be
Roasted to Perfection.....
Photobucket

Guest Arrives,
and let's get this party started!
Photobucket

Left: Red Wine lamb culet
Right: Rosemary Rack of lamb
Verdict: Finger licking good!
Kitson wolfed down 7-8 pieces himself,
pretty RARE for someone who doesn't like lamb!
Photobucket

Honey mustard pork cutlet
Verdict: not too bad... but need more work!
Photobucket

Cold pasta salad garnished with roasted walnuts
Photobucket

Baked potatoes with creamy herb cheese & sinful bacon bits
I'm sure nobody had noticed
that it was my 1st attempt baking potatoes,
since one of our guest commented that this is "HOT STUFF"!
Photobucket

Lovely Mango Fruit Tart sponsored
by my sister-in-law; Peggy for desert!
Photobucket

Happy Cina Birthday Mama!!!
See! We are always finding perfect excuses to indulge ourselves!
How not to be horizontally challenge woh?!?!?!?
Photobucket

Many thanks to all that came....
I'm looking forward to hosting more dinner parties at home!

PIXAR EXHIBITION: Singapore Science Center

The train ride took us about 1 1/2 hours,
Sophia's whining coupled with
Hiroshi's constant "are we there yet?"
did not make this trip any easier than it is suppose to be!

But, thank God we still made it...
and spent 7 solid hours at the Science Center!!

The main purpose of this excursion was for the Pixar Exhibition.
I was truly impressed and learnt so much more about animation
then what I would have known in my entire lifetime!

The kids were excited when they saw familiar movies they've seen,
like, UP, Toy Story, Finding Memo, Monster Inc. and so much more!

And since photography is not allowed in the exhibition,
this is the only picture we had....
Photobucket

I somehow had a feeling that we were being extorted!
$10 bucks (already "discounted")
for a firstly OVERLY exposed,
then OVERLY contrasted photograph!
Sigh....
I'm not looking for a world class photographer
in a world class attraction.
But, at least one that can take decent pictures!!!
In my honest opinion,
I think I take better pictures!
*big fat grin*

We brought the Pixar Exhibition & 3D movie package,
and Toy Story 2 was screening.....
Kids totally love it!
Swanky Kids in 3D Glasses!
PhotobucketPhotobucket

This would be another thing
that would keep both kids very very happy.
Water Play;
My grand plan to tire them out
so that I can ride the train in peace on the way home!
Photobucket
Photobucket

When Hiroshi saw this amazing volcano at the entrance,
he wanted to watch the imax movie.....
Photobucket

But unfortunately he couldn't keep his sleepy lids
from covering his eyes!

So mummy gets to ride home in peace!

Mask or Unmask?!?!?

Even my 3 year old understands the fact that
she has to put on a mask when she is not feeling well......
She knows that by wearing a mask
she could help prevent germs form spreading.....

Unfortunately, the trend of wearing face mask when one is sick
is not catching up in Singapore like it should be in Japan....

I realize that most people in Singapore shun sick people with mask
more than sick people without mask....

So now, what's the logic?

I had the chance to speak to a doctor at KKH,
when I ask him if he would encourage his patients to wear a mask.

He say nope,
only the cancer patients wear them coz they got lower immune system.

We are actually such self centered nation!
A mask is used to "protect" one's OWN interest,
rather than OTHERS?!?!??!?

How to encourage children to put on face mask when they are not feeling well:
1) Wear it Yourself
-I swear this is the most effective way....
Kids are very very curious.
Explain to them why a face mask is important when they are not feeling well.
2) Shop for face mask together
-Diaso sells kiddy size face mask.
If the elastic ear loop parts are too big for the kids,
tie knots on them....
3) Encourage other sick kids to wear a mask
so that your kids would not stick out like a sore thumb!

I've decided to be socially responsible
and mask my kids when they are not feeling well,
You can do that too!

STOP STARING
*in my honest opinion, that is freaking rude*
at my kids if they've got their mask on!
We're only doing what's right!

And stop avoiding us like plague!
It's those Sick and hanging out Without a mask you should be wary of!

Happy Masking...

Kids can Bake - Self Frost Nutella Cupcakes

We organised a baking workshop for the kids and their lil kiddy friends...
My very first....
and I swear it was chaotic!!!
But, not bad enough to put me off organising another baking workshop for kids.
We should try this all over again....
but maybe the next time round,
we should opt for easier recipes like cookies or muffins!

Self Frost Nutella Cupcakes
Photobucket
The texture of this cupcake is dense and buttery,
so make sure you use butter of a good quality!
Ingredients:
100 grams softened butter
3/4 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
200 grams sifted all purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
Nutella or Peanut Butter
Directions:
Preheat oven to 325F.
Line 12 muffin tins with paper liners.

Cream together butter and sugar until light, 2 minutes.
Add in eggs one at a time, until fully incorporated.
Don’t worry if the batter doesn’t look smooth.
Add vanilla. Stir in flour, salt and baking powder
until batter is uniform and no flour remains.

Fill each muffin liner with batter.
They should be 3/4 full. Top each cake with 1 tsp Nutella.
Swirl Nutella in with a toothpick,
making sure to fold a bit of batter up over the nutella.

Bake for 25 minutes.

Remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
Makes 12.

The whole bunch of kids who were bakers of the day!

Thank you for popping by kids!

妈妈八十一大寿 (Mama's Grand 81th Birthday Celebrations!)

(03.06.2010-06.06.2010)

~03.06.2010~
I am convinced that our family cannot travel
on a PLANNED vacation....
Perhaps we live on adrenaline rush
from last minute changes....
or maybe it's the stress
that keeps our heart pumping more effectively than ever!
But, a matter of fact,
that's just how the Yoon family would get things done.
We are always spontaneous
about fine tuning on how we do things to make it better!
*wipes perspiration off forehead*
But, Thank God,
We made it afterall!!

P/S:
To all affected parties:
I sincerely apologize for all the miscommunication,
BUT,
I cross my heart,
all decisions were made with good intentions....

We took a night bus from ParkRoyal Hotel @ Kitchener Road,
Lapan Lapan Express.
A comfortable experience for the whole family.
To illustrate how good the journey was;
We slept ALL THE WAY to Ipoh!
*2 thumbs up!*

~04.06.2010~
We arrived Ipoh at about 6ish.
With time to kill,
we WALKED to New FohSan for Breakfast.
*Google Map from Point A to B*
Optimus Prime & Bumble Bee
checking out DimSum @ New FohSan
Quite frankly, I think the standard of food
has dropped drastically!
The only food that was worth raving about
was the cheong fen...
The rest were just So-lala!

After Breakfast,
with more time to kill,
we WALKED to our Hotel!
*Google Map from point B to C!*

In total we walked about 2.8miles,
now I don't feel that guilty
for indulging on that extra siew mai or char siew bao!!!

Breakfast @ Heritage Hotel
It's a hotel with such amazing view!
We could see horses and race tracks from our rooms!
The kids were delighted!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOPHIA!!!!
You are finally 3 today!
And you still want to be a princess when you grow up....

You'll always be my lil princess!

We sent off the kids for art classes at Faerie's Art Studio,
I must say that this young women is very talented!
She kept 6 kids age raging from 3-13 fairly busy for 3 hours...
while the adults had a ball of good time themselves!
The ladies were off for a pampering session of facial,
while the men relaxes in a massage session....

The GRAND Conspiracy!
Everyone from the youngest and the oldest
were in cahoots....
to give mama a memorable grand 81st birthday!

I really wasn't expecting much from the bakery when we ordered the cake.
Since most of the cakes we saw in their fridge reminds me
of my own birthday cake dated as far back as 1980s!
But, I was so darn WRONG!!!
Look at how superb the cake is!!!
It taste even better than it looks!
Mental note to myself:
Never judge a bakery from the cakes displayed in their fridge!

-to my Sister-in-laws for making the effort to organize....

-and to mama who just went with the flow and be SURPRISE!

Happy Birthday MaMa!!!

The party did not just end there and then....
It was adjourned to sister-in-law Linda's place for more party fun...

I've really got no idea where these durians came from...
But, I swear these durains were about the size of my head!
The flesh as thick as my fist, and with seed tiny as can be!
And they tasted OH-SO-HEAVENLY!!!
Photobucket

How can you ever resist this!!
Photobucket

I think everyone had a jolly good time!
We seriously should do this more often!!!
